The Easton Fight Team sent a small cadre of fearsome competitors and cornermen to the World Kickboxing Association’s National Tournament in Queens, New York, last month. The tournament took place over the third weekend in May. It includes fights under several different rule sets, and serves as the American qualifier for the WKA World Championships, which will be held in the fall.
Our fighters saw some tough match-ups, and fought through the frustrations of a weekend full of logistical difficulties. But in the end, they put it all out there, and came home stronger, wiser, and a bit heavier (post-tournament NYC eating was legendary). Ashley Acord took the 110 lb. title in the Muay Thai rules division for the third year in a row, as well as the silver medal in the Glory rules division. Wes Argrow took two silver medals, in both the Glory and Muay Thai divisions.
