February Arvada Newsletter

2018 has been off to a rapid start at ETC-Arvada! It’s hard to believe we’ve already reached the end of February, and WOW have things been moving. We had plenty of events over the course of the month, and even more on the horizon. Let’s take a look!

Kids Summer Camps at ETC-Arvada

Kids Summer camps have been scheduled at ETC-Arvada! We will be running two separate, week-long camps this Summer from June 11-15 and August 6-10 open to both members and non-members. Easton Training Center Arvada’s summer camp is an active week spent learning the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai with our staff of fun, energetic instructors. We also emphasize character development through our daily Mat Chats, where instructors instill the fundamental martial arts values of respect, discipline, and confidence. And of course, plenty of fun and games. Both beginners and advanced students are welcome!

Online registration can be found here, and we are offering an Early Bird registration discount if you sign up by March 15th! Help us spread the word, and let’s make this another great year for our Kids Summer Camps!

Another Great Ninja Night!

To kick the month off on the right foot, on Saturday February 3rd we held another great Ninja Night for our Kids Program and their friends & family. The evening featured many of our students’ favorite games as well as an awesome NERF event, pizza and the almighty Lego Ninjago Movie. It’s safe to say it was another success, and a HUGE thank you goes out to our coaches, parents and everyone who helped make the night another smash.

Fight to Win Pro 64

On Friday, 2/23 Coach Bruce Bugbee, Professor Jeff Ake, and Trav Rivers all stepped up to compete in one of the nation’s most reputable professional grappling promotions: Fight to Win. The February month had seen another level of intensity during Monday night’s BJJ competition training in preparation for both the Pro event on the 23rd, and the Tournament of Champions the following day which featured another host of ETC-Arvada competitors.

All three of our ETC-Arvada competitors represented both our gym and the sport incredibly.

To kick off the card in the Purple Belt division, Trav Rivers won via heel-hook in a blistering :15 seconds and for his efforts was awarded with a shiny new Brown Belt from Professor Elliott Marshall on the F2W stage. It was quite the special moment for those who made it early to see him.

A little further down the card Coach Bruce Bugbee, who again roused the crowd with a rapturous walkout, kept the energy high defeating Dan Becker via Inside Heel Hook in the Brown Belt No-Gi division.

And finally, making his Black Belt competitive debut, Professor Jeff Ake dominated all 8:00 minutes of action to win a clear cut decision victory and remain unbeaten in F2w Pro competition.

While we are certainly proud of their competitive accomplishments, it was off the mats in which these three went above and beyond. Trav donated 100% of his fight purse and ticket sales to Colorado Youth at Risk; while Jeff & Bruce partnered up with the Epic Experience charity (learn more about them here) to do the same.

A giant thank you goes out to all of those who attended, donated, purchased tickets and supported in any type of way, and congratulations again to all of our students and friends that made the night a special one while giving back to our community at the same time.
