The Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) hosts the Submission Wrestling Word Championship every two years. The tournament is the most prestigious no gi grappling championship in the world, with divisions limited to 16 participants. ADCC is often referred to as “the olympics of grappling,” and only the top no gi competitors in the world earn the right to compete in the championship.
Professor John Combs, of Easton Boulder, had qualified for the championship by winning the West Coast Trials in February. Today, an exciting announcement was made: Easton Professor Eliot Marshall will also be competing at the championship this year! Marshall secured a spot in the +99kg division after Tex Johnson moved down to the -99kg division.
In the +99kg division, Marshall will compete alongside other jiu jitsu legends including Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida, Cyborg Abreu, Yuri Simoes, Kaynan Duarte, and Joao Gabriel Rocha.
The addition of Eliot Marshall to the championship bracket brings the total number of Easton competitors at ADCC to 2. This is a huge accomplishment, not just for Eliot Marshall and John Combs, but for the whole Easton Academy.
The 2019 ADCC Championship takes place in Anaheim, CA on September 28th – 29th. All of Easton will be cheering for Professor Marshall and Professor Combs! You can buy tickets to ADCC here, or watch the matches on FloGrappling.
