Kickboxing – Teeps

This week in kickboxing, we will focus on using the teep, which translates to “foot jab” in Thai. The teep is a versatile weapon that can be used for range finding, disruption, off-balance your opponent, or setting up another attack. We will look at the mechanics of this kick then explore the different uses of the teep!

Muay Thai – Boxing, Elbows, Knees CONT.

This will be a continuation of last week’s material, reviewing our Zone 2 and Zone 1 weapons! We are looking at how to chain our boxing with our elbows and our knees, as well as basic clinch entries with these weapons. These two weeks will transition us into an upcoming block of clinch work!

Kids – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

This month we’re talking about how the things we do can have an impact on our planet and taking responsibility for our actions. This week we’re going to be talking Waste and the Three R’s that we can use to be Earth Protectors. Waste and how we choose to handle it, affects our world’s environment—that’s YOUR environment. The environment is everything around you including the air, water, land, plants, and man-made things. “Now, since our environment is everything around you including the air, water, land, plants, and man-made things. Do we see how important it is to lessen our impact? And how can we do that? With our Three R’s! Everyone repeat after me! Reduce! Reuse! Recycle!”

Thoughts – Running and Reading: The Keys to Life

Whether you like Will Smith’s movies or not, he is a prime example of someone who dreams big, tolerates failure, and strives for greatness in everything he does. He once said that the keys to life are running and reading. When you’re running and you have that voice in your head that tells you it’s ok to quit. Your lungs hurt, your legs burn, and you think about how nice it would be to just give up….but you don’t. Once you learn to not listen to that voice when you’re running and working out, you will be able to apply that to other aspects of your life. Because not quitting is the key to achieving. Reading is important because any problem that you could ever encounter has already been dealt with by someone else, and documented. Be resourceful when answers are elusive. If you look hard enough, you can probably find it in a book. Learn from those before you. So even if you didn’t like The Fresh Prince, keep running and reading.
