On Saturday, December 19th, the Easton academies came together at ETC Denver for our annual in-house Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament. The energy was high as the kids and parents started to arrive at 8:30 AM. We had an impressive turnout of young competitors this year, with 86 kids registered, just beating the 85 adults. As the morning progressed, we saw some exciting matches from our youngest BJJ students. Their talent, toughness, and enthusiasm are an inspiration, and point toward an exciting future for the next generation of Jiu Jitsu practitioners.
Adult matches began at 11:00 AM, with the no-gi fights starting off each division, followed by the gi matches. From seasoned tournament-goers to students trying out their very first competition, the event was a great showing of sportsmanship, support, and the beauty of the bond formed by Jiu Jitsu.
The complex dance of brackets across the mats went smoothly, thanks to the hard work and organizational skills of general managers Ian Lieberman and Mike Tousignant, as well as a dedicated group of volunteers from all the academies. It was a high note to end the year, and we’re thankful to all of you for the heart you put into our program every day.
