Move of the Week 3/19 – Bear Hug and Back Defense

Move of the Week for 3/19 – This week, Professor Easton demonstrates a range of great moves and techniques for us! This week we see some street fighting defense as well as some great ground techniques.

Fundamentals:

Rear Bear Hug Defense

In street fights or bar fights, someone is always grabbing someone from behind, right? It’s pretty common in movies, and people emulate what they see in movies.  It’s dumb, and Professor Easton shows you how easily you can get out of it. Movies aren’t a good way to learn how to fight.

Guard Attack Triangle Choke

This is one of the fundamentals of jiu jitsu. Pulling of a triangle successfully is one of the most satisfying moments in grappling. It’s imperative to make sure you get your leg up on the shin, and not the foot, otherwise, your opponent can more easily break free.

Intermediate:

Safe; Risky; Foot Lock and Armbar

Last week Professor Easton demonstrated attacking the back, now he’s demonstrating how to defend it. He offers three great options, and explains the pros and cons of each.

Single Leg Takedown

As Professor Easton Demonstrates, make sure you have the hand under the leg palm down in your gable grip. It’s very embarrassing to have the leg only to watch your opponent reach down and casually break your grip. Also, keep your head high. It’s all about leverage, and you don’t want him to have any.

Every week, we post our jiu jitsu technique videos that demonstrate the maneuver and skills you would learn while studying jiu jitsu at Easton BJJ. If you would like to learn jiu jitsu in Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Denver or any of our other locations, contact us today.
