Move of the Week 3/12 – Back Attacks and Single Leg Takedown

Move of the Week 3/12 – This week, we have two videos that demonstrate some excellent techniques. First, Professor Easton shows us how to attack the back with three variations of the lapel choke and an armbar finisher. Then Professor Easton demonstrates the single leg mid level takedown.

Back attacks: Collar Chokes + Armbar and Switching Sides

Here, Professor Easton shows us how to attack from the back. Be careful practicing these moves on your partner. Notice how the lapel choke is all about getting the proper leverage. You’re not trying to squeeze or pull with your arms, so much as with your body. As Professor Easton shows, if you pull straight back, your opponent will likely get out of it.

Single Leg Takedown

As Professor Easton Demonstrates, make sure you have the hand under the leg palm down in your gable grip. It’s very embarrassing to have the leg only to watch your opponent reach down and casually break your grip. Also, keep your head high. It’s all about leverage, and you don’t want him to have any.

Every week, we post our jiu jitsu technique videos that demonstrate the maneuver and skills you would learn while studying jiu jitsu at Easton BJJ. If you would like to learn jiu jitsu in Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Denver or any of our other locations, contact us today.
