Women’s Muay Thai in Colorado

A women-only Muay Thai room: pad rounds, partner drills and clinch work with coaches who hold you to real technique.

Before you book

This class is for students at yellow shirt and above, and shin guards and a mouthguard are required. Starting from zero? Begin in Kickboxing or Women’s Jiu Jitsu — that is where the yellow shirt is earned, and it is a matter of months, not years.

Most women at Easton train in the regular classes, alongside everyone else. The women-only classes are an extra door — some people start there, some keep them as a standing part of the week, some never take one. All three are normal.

What the Women’s Room Is Actually Like

Muay Thai uses eight points of contact — two fists, two elbows, two knees, two shins — plus the clinch, which is the part nobody expects and everybody remembers. The women's class trains all of it: rounds on the pads, partner drills where someone is genuinely feeding you a shot, and clinch work that turns out to be the most exhausting five minutes of your week.

The reason it has an entry requirement is the same reason it can be trained hard: everyone in the room already has the fundamentals. Nobody is learning what a teep is while a partner holds pads for them. That is what makes it a room where you can throw properly rather than politely.

The Route In

How You Get Onto This Mat

Two rungs, and only two, are documented at Easton: Kickboxing is where you start and where the yellow shirt is earned, and yellow is what opens this class. Here is the honest sequence.

Step 1 · Anyone, Day One01

Kickboxing

What you’ll do

Easton’s striking on-ramp, coed and genuinely beginner-friendly. Stance, footwork, punches and kicks on the heavy bag, with no partner contact and no sparring. This is where the white-to-yellow progression happens, and it is the only prerequisite that matters.

Women’s Muay Thai

What you’ll do

The women-only class. Pad work, partner drills and clinch, with shin guards and a mouthguard required. Once you are in, it is a weekly fixture rather than a course — the same room, getting sharper.

Sparring Days & the Full Program

What you’ll do

The all-women’s sparring days, plus the coed Muay Thai program running daily at every striking academy — fundamentals through advanced and competition. Sparring is always controlled, supervised, and never a requirement.

Not there yet? Kickboxing takes complete beginners on day one and runs far more often than the women’s class does — and Women’s Jiu Jitsu is open to all levels right now, with no shirt required. For both together, see martial arts for women at Easton.

Why Easton

Authentic Muay Thai, Taught Properly

Easton has run striking alongside its jiu-jitsu since the beginning, and the Muay Thai program is led by Sean Madden with a staff of professional fighters and competitors. The women's class is taught to the same standard by the same kind of coach — this is not an outreach program, it is the curriculum.

The all-women's sparring days have been running since 2024, which is the part that tends to convince people. A gym can put a women's class on the timetable; filling a mat with women who want to spar takes an actual community.

FAQ

Women’s Muay Thai — Your Questions Answered

Everything people ask before their first class. Still unsure? Just show up — a coach will walk you through it.

What is a yellow shirt, and how long does it take?

Easton’s striking program ranks by shirt rather than by belt, and yellow is the first one — awarded in Kickboxing once you have the fundamentals: stance, guard, the basic punches and kicks, and enough control to drill them with a partner. For someone training consistently it is a matter of months rather than years. Your coach will tell you where you stand; you do not have to ask for a test.

I have struck before, just not at Easton. Do I still need the shirt?

Come in and train a Kickboxing class and let a coach watch you. Experience from elsewhere is real and it is recognised — the shirt is about demonstrated fundamentals, not about time served at this gym. What we cannot do is take your word for it sight unseen, because everyone in the women’s class is training on the assumption that everyone else has the basics.

What gear do I actually need?

For the women’s class, shin guards and a mouthguard are required, plus gloves and hand wraps. For your first Kickboxing classes you need none of it — we provide loaner gloves and wraps, and there is no partner contact, so no shin guards. Buy gear once you know you are staying.

Will I have to spar?

Not to attend the women’s class — it is pad work, partner drills and clinch, which is not the same thing as sparring. Sparring at Easton is a separate, supervised, controlled activity that you opt into, including the all-women’s sparring days. Plenty of people train Muay Thai for years and never spar.

Which academies run the women's Muay Thai class?

The class-times section on this page lists them, read directly from the live schedule rather than typed in. It is a smaller list than the jiu-jitsu one — but the coed Muay Thai program runs daily across the striking academies, and one membership covers every location.

Is Muay Thai going to be too hard for me?

The women’s class is demanding, which is rather the point of a room where everyone already has the basics — but it is drilling and pad work, not a fight, and you set your own output. The honest answer is that the conditioning arrives about three weeks after you start, and that Kickboxing is a gentler place to find that out.
