Max Madorsky: MMA Saved My Life

Meet nineteen-year-old Max Madorsky. He is an amateur mixed martial arts fighter who trains out of Easton Training Center Centennial, and has been a part of the Easton community since joining in 2011, shortly after moving to Colorado. Max is a fighter with an unusual story. He hasn’t always been a competitive athlete. In fact, when Max was fourteen years old, he weighed almost 300 pounds. Looking back on this time in his life, he remembers being unhappy, with very low self-esteem and self-confidence.
It was around this time that Max decided to make a change. His friend Devin was about to be deployed to Afghanistan, and he made Max a deal. If Max promised to work on losing weight, Devin promised to return home safely. Max kept his promise, and began to shed the pounds. But it wasn’t until he had a run-in with a bully at school that Max truly found his passion for martial arts. Getting attacked and beat up was a turning point for him, and he resolved to learn how to defend himself. He began to learn Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu. Shortly afterward, his family moved to Colorado, and he began training at Easton.

Over the course of about a year, Max lost 130 lbs. Today, Max is happy and healthy, enjoying the beginning of a very promising fight career. He had his first amateur MMA fight in August of 2014. Since then, he’s had three more fights, with a record of 3-1. He calls MMA “the highest high I’ve ever felt,” and his ultimate goal is to make it to the UFC, and take the 145 lb. title.

When he isn’t training, he’s often teaching–sharing his love for the sport that changed his life. Easton members can catch his kickboxing and Muay Thai classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays in Centennial.
