July Arvada Newsletter

It’s already August, and we had another booming and exciting month at ETC-Arvada. Read on to hear about what happened in and around our academy in July and what the month of August has in store for us!

Coming Up: Kids Camp August 6-10

Our first Kids Camp session from June 11-16 was a great one! Don’t forget, we have our second session coming up from August 6-10 open to both members and non-members.

Easton Training Center Arvada’s summer camp is an active week spent learning the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai with our staff of fun, energetic instructors. We also emphasize character development through our daily Mat Chats, where instructors instill the fundamental martial arts values of respect, discipline, and confidence. And of course, plenty of fun and games.

Both beginners and advanced students are welcome! Online registration can be found here, so help us spread the word, and let’s make this another great year for our Kids Summer Camps!

Coming Up: Muay Thai Summer Smoker on 8/4

It’s time again for the annual Easton Summer Muaythai Smoker! All 8 of our Easton academies will be coming together once again for a fun day of exhibition Muay Thai matches, plenty of food & drink, and a special promotion ceremony to cap things off. This is a family friendly event which grows each and every year, and we are beyond excited for our latest installment.

The goal of these matches is to prepare our Easton Muaythai athletes for competition on a larger scale by getting their first taste of competition in a safe and friendly environment and in front of their friends & family! Spectators are encouraged to cheer on all competitors, as there are no winners or losers in exhibition matches. There will be an introduction to the sport and art of Muay Thai before the matches begin to help provide more information for our first-time viewers which we highly encourage all attendees to show up early for.

During the matches, we are excited to have Arepas Caribbean Food Truck joining us at the smoker! We will be taking an intermission to let all in attendance check out the truck. A keg will be provided, and cups can be purchased with a $5 donation to our academies. Everyone is invited to bring their own food and beverage as well and all friends and family as this is a community event.

Coming Up: Fight 2 Win BJJ Colorado Open on August 18th

The next Colorado Fight 2 Win Jiu Jitsu tournament will take place on Saturday, August 18th at the National Western Complex in Denver. Anyone interested in competing can put their name on the sign up sheet at the front desk to help make sure we have enough coaches present at the tournament and to get an idea for how many competitors we will be fielding. Talk to your BJJ coaches and professors for more info!

Changes to Evening BJJ Schedule In Effect!

Starting Monday August 6th, we will be making some changes to our evening Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schedule.  We will be adding an INTERMEDIATE BJJ class at 7pm MondayThursday. The Intermediate class will follow the same Gi and No-Gi schedule as the advanced class. Monday and Wednesday will be held No-Gi, while Tuesday and Thursday will still be held in the Gi. We will be also be adding a Teens Muaythai class Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm, so be sure to help us spread the word about that as well. We’re very excited about the new additions, and as always, please let us know via e-mail, message or in person how the new changes are working for you and your family!

Coach Wes Wins SCL Muay Thai Title at Pepsi Center

During the last weekend of June, ETC-Arvada striking Coach Wes Argrow represented our Easton Academies in Denver’s most reputable venue, the Pepsi Center, also home to the Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets! Coach Wes, who was fresh off an amazing showing with the USA IFMA Team at the 2018 World Championships in Mexico, fought brilliantly; controlling the pace of the fight from bell to bell. After the scores were read, Wes nabbed a clean sweep judge’s decision, 30-27 x3, earning the Sparta Combat League 170 lb. Muay Thai Title against a strong opponent. Congrats coach Wes!

Birthday Pro-Shop Discounts!

As a special bonus to our members, during the week of your birthday, you will be eligible to purchase any item in our pro-shop at a 10% discount! We’re excited to add a little more incentive towards seeing you during your birthday week, so be sure to help us spread the word about this exciting new offer.

Coach Adam Hits Podium at IBJJF Boston Summer Open

Over the weekend of July 27-29 Coach Adan Lee competed for the first time as a Purple Belt in the IBJJF Boaston Summer Open. Adam lost a very close match that ended with a score of 0 to 0, which narrowed down to advantages and fouls to determine the win. The scoreboards had Coach Adam ahead at the end of their match, however an adjustment due to a misinterpretation among the scorekeepers and referee after the match led to a win for Adam’s opponent. We are very proud of Adam and can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds for his competitive journey.
