Kickboxing – Boxing

This week in Kickboxing L1, we will be focusing on the “Sweet Science!” We will examine the similarities and the differences between traditional boxing and boxing for Kickboxing/Muay Thai. Let’s work on getting a mean jab this week!

Muay Thai – Leg Kick Offense and Strategy

This week, we will look at leg kick offense, set ups, and follow ups. Learning how to attack the opponent’s legs is a valuable tool that can slow the opponent down, take steam off their strikes, and set us up for a ton of nice follow ups. A hard leg kick is a staple of every good Thai Boxer’s arsenal, and on the other side, building up your legs to take leg kicks is key as well.

Kids – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

This month we’re talking about how the things we do can have an impact on our planet and taking responsibility for our actions. This week we’re going to be talking Waste and the Three R’s that we can use to be Earth Protectors. Waste and how we choose to handle it, affects our world’s environment—that’s YOUR environment. The environment is everything around you including the air, water, land, plants, and man-made things. First we have the most important “R” and that’s “Reduce”. This simply means using less stuff. Our Second “R” is Reuse, this means to use something over and over again. The Third “R” is Recycle, this means that instead of throwing something away, we send it to a place that can turn it into something new! Learn these important lessons to be the best Earth Protector!

Thoughts – Don’t Compare Yourself to Others

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” – Theodore Roosevelt Comparing your progress to that of others is a fruitless venture that inevitably leads to discouragement. Try instead to set realistic goals for yourself both in BJJ and in life, and then seek to accomplish them. Strive to be the best version of yourself that you can be, because ultimately that is all you can do.
