EASTON TRAINING CENTER & ELEVATION FIGHT TEAM
Easton Training Center and Elevation Fight Team have had a busy last month of fights. It started with some local fights at PFC. We had Jeremiah Talley come up with a big win in his pro debut. Jeremiah will be having his 2nd pro fight on Dec. 6. In another PFC event, Tony Sims fought on the card in the main event of the evening. He came up on the short side of a bad decision as many of you either saw or heard. He will be back stronger then ever I can reassure you. The next day coach Leister Bowling and I took off to coach Nate “The Great” Marquardt in his UFC fight against Hector Lombard. Both guys are hard hitting welterweights and it didn’t go our way.
Last week we had 2 UFC fighters in action. Both Neil Magnu and Brandon “Rukus” Thatch went to battle. Neil came up on the wrong side of a decision in his fight. We all got to see how special Brandon Thatch is going to be. In only his second fight he took on crafty veteran Paulo Thiago. Thiago has a KO victory over Josh Koscheck and a submission over Mike Swick. Paulo has only been stopped once in his over 20 fight career. Brandon came out and took the fight directly to him. Staying in his face, Thatch landed a perfectly placed left knee to the body that spelled the end of the fight for Thiago in the first round. The best part about the fight was while in the back warming up, Thatch asked striking coach, Christian Allen, to hold the pads so he could practice the knee and he turned around and said “Yep this is gonna be it. I feel it.”
It is now Monday and I just got back from Vegas for Cody Donovan’s fight at UFC 167, it turned out to be a loss, but we know Cody is a fighter to the bone, so he will rise again for his next bout.
To finish out the year we have Tyler Toner and Vinnie Lopez fighting on the RFA card on Fri Nov. 22 at the First Bank Center, and then Jeremiah Talley rounding out the year on Dec. 6 PFC card. As always we are proud of all the guys win or lose for putting it on the line. Keep training hard everybody and see you on the mats. Have a happy and safe Holiday Season.
