Easton Muay Thai Smoker Recap

Easton Muay Thai Smoker Recap

By Sean Madden, Easton Muay Thai Program Director

On August 4th, we held our annual Easton Muay Thai Summer Smoker at the Denver academy! This event is designed to give students their first taste of competition in a safe and friendly atmosphere. “Smokers” are considered exhibition bouts, so there are no winners and losers. Instead, the students are able to focus on performance and dealing with the emotions that come with stepping into the ring!

The event featured 13 fights, with athletes representing all of our Easton locations! The bouts were extremely technical as all the athletes displayed their hard work and training in front of a crowd of nearly 200 spectators. One of the most exciting fights of the day came from two of our youngest athletes! Kyle Pacheco from Castle Rock and Dmitri Ramos from Centennial, both 18 years old, put on a very exciting back-and-forth fight that had the crowd going wild! The future in Muay Thai is bright for both of those young athletes.

Aside from the fights, one of the most anticipated parts of the summer Smoker is the food! This year, we were lucky to have two food trucks at the event: Arepas Caribbean Food and Euro Crepes! Arepas had several delicious dishes on their menu while Euro Crepes served up paninis and some amazing dessert crepes. Everyone left well-fed and happy!

With another successful Muay Thai Smoker in the books, we look forward to our annual winter Smoker next! Date is TBD, but we will certainly let you know as soon as we have a date set. Hope to see you all at the next one!
