CrossFit Open 2016 Recap
The Easton CrossFit Open was a huge success this year! It took place at the CrossFit ETB from February 25th – March 28th 2016. The CrossFit Open is a five-week, five-workout competition that accurately ranks the fitness of thousands of competitors. Easton had 45 participants which were split into four teams, The Squatting Scorpions, The Double-Under Dogs, The Snatching Tigers, and The Kipping Kangaroos. Throughout the Open, we kept a total score, gave extra points for posting pictures, and had a healthy amount of competition among the teams. The Kipping Kangaroos came out on top, and members of the team received prize bags sponsored by Colorado Nutrition and Lululemon.
With the Open comes friendly competition within your gym, as well as the opportunity to see how you match up against the best CrossFitters in the world. Each participating athlete chooses between the RX and Scaled division based on his or her ability level. Competitors then perform the workouts as prescribed and see how far they can push themselves! We had some very high-performing athletes this year, with Coach Park Roberts finishing 176th in the Region for the RX division, and Zippy Abraham Paiss finishing 18th in the Region for the Teens division.
After the final scores were submitted for the 16.5 workout, participants enjoyed some well-deserved beers at the Open wrap-up party at Sanitas Brewing Co. We want to send out a huge Thank You to everyone who participated this year. We could not have done it without you, and we are already looking forward to next year!
