The Easton Empire Expands! The Lowdown on Littleton from GM Peter Straub

[vc_row row_type=”row” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]As of June 18, 2018, Easton Training Center has added another Academy to its ranks. Easton Training Center Littleton opened its doors to Jiu Jitsu practitioners of all abilities and experience levels just last month. We caught up with Littleton’s General Manager and Easton Black belt Peter Straub to get his take on this momentous occasion, and hear how things have been progressing at Easton’s newest outpost.

What things about this new location opening are exciting to you? 

PROF. PETER STRAUB: I think my favorite thing about the location is the old-school feel of a smaller gym where everyone knows each other. I’m very excited to build a new tight-knit community with the great Easton BJJ culture that people are proud to be a part of.

 

Do you anticipate having lots of cross-over between Easton Littleton and other Easton Academies? Or do you predict a larger influx of new members from the Littleton area?
PS: We have had a few transfers from Denver and Centennial, but for the most part, our clients are all new members residing in the Littleton area. There are very few Jiu Jitsu options down here, so we are excited to be able to spread Jiu Jitsu to a largely untapped community.
What can existing Easton members look forward to with Easton Littleton opening its doors?
 PS: Existing members who trained at the original “favela” in Denver will probably feel some nostalgia from the old school days before we opened the training center. As I am the primary instructor right now, students can look forward to black belt instruction and smaller class sizes, along with lots of live training from the feet.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role of GM at the Littleton Academy?
PS: I’m so excited to have the opportunity to share BJJ with a much larger number of people, and to recreate the BJJ culture that I was lucky enough to have in my early training years. Jiu Jitsu did so much for me as a person, so I’m very excited to share it with as many people as possible. I’ve also taken on the role of Tigers instructor, so I’m very excited to get to teach a bunch of 7-12 year olds who are eager to learn. My goal is to be for them the person I needed when I was their age. I had some really good mentors in my teenage years and I would love to fulfill that role as much as I can. The youth are our future. So I see it as an investment in the well-being of all those who will come in contact with the Tigers I teach.
Do you have any words for the new squad of Jiu Jitsu practitioners at the Littleton location?
PS: THANK YOU! Everyone has been so supportive, patient, and eager to learn BJJ from me. You guys are all the reason I wake up with no alarm clock, excited to start my day and share the gift of martial arts that was given to me by Professor Eliot about 9 years ago. I can’t wait to participate in your respective journeys through Jiu Jitsu. Please know that my door is always open, and I am here to help you in any way I can, both on and off the mats.
