BJJ | Kickboxing | Muay Thai | CrossFit | Kids

BJJ

Fundamentals – Closed Guard

  • Rear Bear Hug – Having somebody grab you from behind is a scary thought. This week we’ll study what to do if you ever find yourself in this all too common self defense situation.
  • Guard Passing – One of the most important pieces of your BJJ game is understanding how to pass your partner’s guard. Once you get around your partner’s guard you can start to let the rest of your game flourish.

Intermediate – Back Attacks

  • Single Leg Takedown – the single leg is an incredibly powerful takedown, especially when you start to mix it in with your Guard and turtle games.
  • Back Attacks – You’ve gotten to the best position you could be in, now it’s time to finish. This week we’ll be looking at lapel chokes to get the job done.

Kickboxing – Push Kicks

The push kick, or front kick, in kickboxing is a very versatile weapon. The main use will be to maintain distance between yourself and the opponent, but can also be used to disrupt the balance of your opponent during an exchange! The key to power in the front kick is HIP EXTENSION! Make sure you focus on kicking THROUGH the target, not TO the target this week!

Fitness Challenge: 150 Push Ups

Muay Thai – Footwork

Every exchange in a Muay Thai fight is dynamic and generally involves one or both of the fighters moving. This week, we will focus on keeping our feet underneath us as we move with our strikes. Forward, back, left, and right, while keeping our base underneath us.

Announcements

  • Easton Muay Thai Christmas Classic Smoker is happening December 20th at ETC Denver. Ask your coaches for more info and sign up at the front desk.
  • Easton Muay Thai shorts are supposed to arrive this week… **fingers crossed**
  • We have tons of coaches and students with fights in the next 2 weeks. Be sure to pick up your tickets at the front desk.

Thoughts

Do things for others without any need or desire for a pat on the back. Do it because it feels good and make a habit of doing it. People may not acknowledge what you’ve done, but that shouldn’t be what drives you anyways.
Those that do things that count…never stop to count them!
