May 2018 Arvada Newsletter

It’s starting to feel a little like Spring around here, which means we’ve crossed over into another month already! May was another high-paced month full of events, new faces and of course boat loads of training. Read on to see what went down at ETC-Arvada over May and what we’ve got coming up for June as well!

F2WPro 74 on May 11th

On May 11th, one of the nation’s largest and most reputable grappling promotions, Fight to Win, touched down in its hometown of Denver. As with every Colorado F2W event, the Easton BJJ army was well represented, including a couple of ETC-Arvada favorites. Coach Bruce Bugbee and Esmelin Espinal both competed in the Brown Belt divisions of their respective weight classes.

Both Bruce & Esmelin competed in hard fought matches and fell to close decisions, representing the Easton family incredibly. As always, our competitors put it all on the line and embodied the true martial arts spirit in the process. We’re proud of all of our Easton BJJ competitors. Congratulations!

Fairmount Firebird 5k on May 6th

On Sunday, May 6th we were happy to once again join the team at Fairmount Elementary School’s annual ‘Firebird 5k’ festivities. It’s always a blast being a part of our surrounding communities and this year didn’t skip on the fun. Featuring a number of running races for kids & adults, plenty of delicious food trucks, and tons of new friends, this year’s event was another slam dunk. Thanks so much to our team members who made this year’s event the best yet!

Karl Pravec Seminar on May 3rd

ETC-Denver was delighted to host the ‘Silver Fox’ Karel Pravec for an evening seminar on May 3rd. Karel Pravec, a Czech-American Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, received his black belt from Renzo Gracie, and was one of the Gracies’ very first students in the United States. The evening was filled with knowledge bombs aplenty, and we honored to have the Silver Fox at our academies again! Thanks to all those that made it out, and we’re excited to see some new moves on our Jiu Jitsu mats. Be on the lookout for more seminars in the near future!

Easton Voted #1 on Denver A-List!

Voting results are in for 2018’s Denver A-List Awards. Thanks to all of your support and votes, Easton Training Centers nabbed the top spot for martial arts in Colorado! While we all know how incredible our Easton community is, it’s great to see us recognized by such an awesome award. Congratulations to all Easton students, friends and family!

Coming Up: Pad Holding Seminar on June 30th

Pad holding… one of the pieces of class that can make or break your Muay Thai experience. We’re excited to give our students the chance to get more comfortable on all of our striking equipment during a special two-hour seminar.  Students will get to work using Thai Pads, Focus Mitts, Suit Cases, and more; all under the supervision and instruction of ETC-Arvada’s Coaches Matt Bloss & Patti Inglis.

We will go over the uses for different equipment, holding for various focuses, Dutch style drilling and of course have some live pad holding rounds to put our work into action. This seminar will take place on June 30th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and is open to ALL Easton students, regardless of rank or home school for just $15.

Join us and learn one of the more intimidating aspects of Kickboxing or Muay Thai training in a safe and fun environment!

Coming Up: June & August Summer Camps

Don’t forget, we’ve got two Summer Skills Camp sessions for ages 4-11 on the horizon! We will be running two separate, week-long camps this Summer from June 11-15 and August 6-10 open to both members and non-members.

Easton Training Center Arvada’s summer camp is an active week spent learning the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai with our staff of fun, energetic instructors. We also emphasize character development through our daily Mat Chats, where instructors instill the fundamental martial arts values of respect, discipline, and confidence. And of course, plenty of fun and games.

Both beginners and advanced students are welcome! Online registration can be found here, so help us spread the word, and let’s make this another great year for our Kids Summer Camps!
