March Arvada Newsletter

Things have been bustling right along through March. With all that has been happening over the past few months, it’s pretty difficult to imagine that we’re already a quarter of the year through 2018. Yet again we’ve had another banner month for attendance & new members, and we couldn’t have done it without all of our amazing students, coaches and professors making our mats one of the most special places to train in all of Colorado! As usual, we had a host of events occur  & we have even more coming up, so read on to see what went down in March and what we’ve got brewing going into April as well.

New Bag Rack for Kickboxing!

On Saturday, 3/24 we installed a brand new bag rack to accommodate all of the hustle and bustle that’s been happening in our striking program. All of our students have been doing an amazing job of keeping classes full, both of people and energy, so in order to ensure we have enough space for our classes, we’ve installed a brand new bag rack with more space in between for our students to work and to keep classes flowing smoothly. Great job striking students, let’s keep it going!

Kids Summer Camps

Don’t forget, we’ve got two Summer Skills Camp sessions for ages 4-11 on the horizon! We will be running two separate, week-long camps this Summer from June 11-15 and August 6-10 open to both members and non-members.

Easton Training Center Arvada’s summer camp is an active week spent learning the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai with our staff of fun, energetic instructors. We also emphasize character development through our daily Mat Chats, where instructors instill the fundamental martial arts values of respect, discipline, and confidence. And of course, plenty of fun and games.

Both beginners and advanced students are welcome! Online registration can be found here, so help us spread the word, and let’s make this another great year for our Kids Summer Camps!

Muay Thai Youth Academy Coaches Seminar

Early in March, each of our main Easton Training Centers sent a representative to be a part of the inaugural Muay Thai Youth Academy Seminar at Valor Training Center in Stockton, CA which was put on by the United States Muay Thai Federation.

From March 2-4, our Easton representatives of Abby Dawn (Boulder), Sean Madden (Denver), Max Madorsky (Centennial), Corey Sandhagen (HAMA) and Matthew Bloss (Arvada) were thrust head first into an intensive three-day coaching seminar.  USMF Board Member and Youth Development League Director Patrick Rivera along with USMF President Michael Corley led our coaches through numerous coaching drills, theories, presentations and team building exercises. Our focus as attendees was to help bring our Tiger’s (ages 4-11) Muay Thai program to the next level both in terms of coaching quality and the opportunity for our kids to compete in a safe environment.

Expect some awesome changes in our Tiger’s Muay Thai program in the coming months as we begin to bridge our current curriculum with a YDL (Youth Development League) structured curriculum and teaching methodology. We are beyond excited to give our kids the best possible training and classes specified towards them, so be sure to let us know how you and your awesome children are liking the evolution of our program!

IBJJF Denver Open/Comp Class

The Denver International Open IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship is just around the corner on April 21st & 22nd. Teams and competitors have been set, and we are very happy to see the IBJJF return to the hotbed of talent that we have in our back yard of Colorado.

Don’t forget on Monday nights we are running our BJJ competition class for any three stripe white belts and up. The class is competition based, featuring various scoring drills to help our students understand and thrive within the ruleset under which they are competing, and on implementing individual gameplans and strategies as well.

Let’s keep these classes as vibrant as they have been, and help our friends prepare to represent our academy! After the Denver Open, we will put a hold on these specialized sessions, so take advantage of them for the next month!
