Fundamentals – Back Attacks

  • Dragging Rear Naked Choke – The most effective way to take an opponent to the ground, keeping both yourself and your opponent safe.
  • Back Attacks – This week we’ll learn how to attack from the most dominant position in BJJ.

Intermediate – Half Guard

  • Sprawling – A must-know for defending shots. The sprawl is your key to staying on top.
  • Half Guard Escapes – We’ll study the best ways to go transition from Half Guard back to Full Guard.

Kickboxing – Boxing

The goal in any combat sport is to hit your opponent without getting hit! This week, we will focus on throwing our initial combinations, then moving our feet In order to stay safe, then follow up with another attack. The two calls to focus on will be our “pivot step” to the left and our “roll” to the right. Stick and move!

Fitness Challenge: 100 Burpees

Muay Thai – Low Kicks

Low kicks are designed to attack the legs of our opponent, which can disrupt their offensive rhythm while inflicting significant damage. A good low kick will allow us to eventually open up other attacks to the body and head. This week we look at the outside low kick and the inside low kick on offense, as well as how to properly defend and counter the low kick on defense!

Kids – Coming Soon…

  • Little Tigers – Taking the Back will teaches Agility and Balance.
  • Tigers – Mount Escapes are one of the most important Self Defense techniques you can learn.
  • Advanced Tigers – Passing the Closed Guard is one of the most fun things to do in BJJ.

Muay Thai

This week we’ll be combining our punches with kicks. This takes a lot of  focus and practice, so stay committed this week.

  • ETC was represented well at the Fight To Win fights this weekend as usual!  Coach Gigi Good was able to secure a 3 round unanimous decision in her debut MMA fight, and while Coach Max came up short in his fight debut, he learned a lot and will come back stronger in his next one!  Thanks to all of the staff and students that came out to support this event!  We couldn’t do it without all of you!
  • Belt promotion August 25 starting at 7:30 at ETC Denver. See you there! Check out who’s getting there new belts.

When another person makes you suffer, it is because he suffers deeply within himself, and his suffering is spilling over. He does not need punishment, he needs help. That’s the message he is sending.
