Fundamentals – Frame
- Foot Sweep Walking Backwards – Foot sweeps are incredibly technical, and your timing has to be just right. Get your reps in this week, and soon you’ll be hitting them in training.
- Frame – We’ll look at the basic frame, and learn how to use it from a variety of bottom positions.
Intermediate – Double Attack
- Sprawl – Learn how to use this explosive motion to defend quickly against a takedown.
- Double Attack – Now that we’re getting comfortable maintaining, we’ll focus on ending the fight with submissions. This week we’ll work on setting up a choke and an armbar at the same time.
Kickboxing – Push Kicks/Front Kicks
This week we focus on the mechanics and use of the “push kick.” You may hear the terms “push kick,” “front kick,” and “teep,” all used this week, and they all mean the same thing! The goal of these weapons is to keep the opponent at a safe distance, find our range for an attack, or to off-balance our opponent for a follow up attack! Remember: use your hips to generate power for these kicks, and think like you are trying to kick down a door!

Muay Thai – Attacking the Body
“Kill the body and the head will die.” This week we focus on setting up boxing combinations that focus on attacking the body. If you’ve ever taken a good shot to the body in sparring, you know that they can easily stop someone! The key to successful body punching is timing and set ups. Attacking the head first opens up the body and allows us to be more successful in our attack.
Kids – What is a Lure?
This week we’re continuing our discussion about how to recognize a dangerous situation, and stay safe when approached by a stranger. We’ll talk about things adults might say to convince a child to go away with them, and what to do if this happens.
- Little Tigers – The Little Tigers will continue to practice basic striking techniques and falling safely. They will also learn how to sweep an attacker’s legs out from under them.
- Tigers – We’ll be looking at how to escape the mount and pass the guard, moving to a more dominant position.
- Advanced Tigers – This week we’ll work on improving our positioning, with the intention of setting up submissions.
Muay Thai is also known as “The Art of Eight Weapons” because of its use of elbows and knees as well as hands and feet. This week we’ll look at incorporating elbow strikes into our punching combinations.
- ETC Centennial’s own Coach Gigi Good will be fighting for the PFC 135lb. Amateur Championship at the Paramount Theater Downtown on the 6th of March. Cory Sandhagen from Aurora ETC/HAMA will also be competing for an amateur title as well, so come out and support them both as they fight to bring a couple more title belts home!
