What year did you start training?
2012, 5 year break, and back since 2019.
How did you get started?
Showed up to a BJJ academy looking for kickboxing classes. Tried a class of BJJ and was hooked before class ended.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve encountered in your training, and how did you overcome it?
Developing and offensive game. I listened to my instructors, set a game plan from positions where I find myself often, and continue to get repetitions.
What’s your favorite thing about training/teaching, and why?
Learning and helping others learn. BJJ is a game with countless permutations, so learning a new technique is exciting but knowing that there’s still more to learn keeps me coming back. Being able to help others where I struggled is the best part of teaching.
What are your personal goals on and off the mat?
Have fun, become a better person, and help others with their goals.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I learned how to speak English from Eminem.
