First All-Easton Teen BJJ Blue Belt Promotion + Randori

This February, we hosted our first Teen Randori of the year — and we also hosted our first-ever association-wide Teen BJJ Blue Belt Promotion!

Why This Event Matters

The year students turn 16, they move from the youth BJJ belt system to the adult belt system. If they meet our prerequisites, they are promoted to blue belt.

According to IBJJF guidelines, teens are considered “16” on January 1 of the year they turn 16 (regardless of their actual birthday). That means a 15-year-old who will turn 16 in 2025 is already considered 16 for competition and is ineligible for youth divisions.

We want to honor our teens at the right time and allow them the opportunity to participate in major IBJJF events like Pans and Worlds.

For many of these students, this blue belt represents years — sometimes up to a decade —of commitment. It’s a huge milestone and a rite of passage into the adult belt system, deserving a memorable celebration.

What to Expect

Teen Randori is a fun opportunity for our teens to train, spar, and grow together. All of our teen students are encouraged to attend, whether they are getting promoted or not!

Blue Belt Promotion Ceremony: We will recognize our new juvenile blue belts on a day dedicated to them, highlighting the years of hard work that led them to this point.

This is an excellent moment in each student’s journey, and we love that we can to share it with our Easton community.

Congratulations to the following students:

We only promoted eligible students turning 16 in 2025 to blue belt. No other students or belt ranks were promoted at this event.
