Arvada November Newsletter

November has brought us many victories, and we are excited to share them with you!

Fight 2 Win Pro

Seventeen competitors from Easton Training Center competed in the Fight 2 Win Pro 92 event on November 3, including Easton Training Center Arvada’s Professor Jeff Ake and Coach JT Baerwolf, who both walked away with victories.

Professor Jeff competed in his black belt match and won by submission using a heel hook. Not only did he win his fight, he also won submission of the night from FloGrappling.com! Additionally, BJJ World’s YouTube channel posted a video of Professor Jeff explaining the heel hook step by step for their “Technique Tuesday” feed! JT Baerwolf’s purple belt match went great and he won by rear naked choke. We are very proud of their accomplishments!

Member of the Month

We are happy to announce that Esteban Terrazas has been selected to become our first ever Member of the Month! Every month we will chose a student to highlight who demonstrates respect, discipline, and a positive attitude. Here Esteban’s story:

“As a brand new white belt I was nervous, and Easton has a program that helps to make us feel comfortable and protected. Ever since starting, my study has helped me to focus on the power of problem solving. Be calm and breathe, and if you can breathe you can survive and problem solve, and that approach is powerful and applicable to everything we face in life. I’ve never liked when people ask, “What do you do?”  Now, I say, ” I study Jiu Jitsu.”

Pad Holding Seminar

We had a blast at the pad holding seminar with Coach Max on November 17th! Not only did we have many Easton Arvada students attend, but students from Centennial also attended this very informative seminar. Coach Max offers a new perspective that encompasses reactionary pad holding and visual commands instead of verbal. Videos of his demonstrations are available by request!

Coming Up:

Bully Proof Seminar

On January 12th and 13th, Easton is hosting a bullyproof seminar for kids to raise money for the foundation Fight for the Forgotten. Professor Eliot Marshall will cover a variety of Jiu Jitsu techniques intended to stop bullying. They will talk about how to de-escalate and avoid a situation, and how kids can defend themselves if needed. If interested, read more about the Bullyproof Seminar!

Winter In-House Muay Thai Smoker

Many Easton Arvada students will be fighting at the In-House Muay Thai smoker on Saturday December 8th, starting at noon. This is a great opportunity for students to test their skills against other Easton members from different locations in a safe and friendly environment. Easton Arvada has several students competing and we hope you can make it out to support them!
