Grappling Industries

On March 16th, Grappling Industries hosted a submission only tournament. This means that there is no time limit, and the matches last until someone is submitted. Two of Easton Arvada’s students competed: Coach Trevor Staal and Caroline O’Connell. This was Trevor’s first competition as a purple belt, and he performed very well! He won gold in his no gi division by a straight ankle lock. Additionally, Caroline O’Connell made her competition debut at this tournament! When you see Coach Trevor and Caroline make sure to congratulate them for their courage to compete!

Member of the Month

This month’s member of the month is Jason Antin. He is an avid outdoorsman and is dedicated to healthy living on and off the mats. In fact, he proposed to his wife while they were both running in the Leadville marathon in 2014. But his martial arts journey began in 2000 when Antin started training MMA in New York while he was in college. He was intrigued by the physical and mental skills needed to progress in this sport. After nearly a decade off the mat, Antin returned eager to be a beginner again and to eventually introduce martial arts to his daughter. He states, “I think that BJJ could be a great outlet for my daughter and I wanted to check out Easton first hand.” And now that Jason Antin has discovered Easton, he says, “I enjoy the opportunity to sweat with and learn from a diverse groups of people that are eager to work hard together.“ He continues to train because Jiu Jitsu provides phenomenal cross-training opportunities, and keeps his ego in check by constantly reminding him that he has so much to learn. It is a pleasure to have Jason Antin at Easton Arvada!

Coming Up….

Professor Eliot Marshall Guest Teaching

Professor Eliot Marshall will be teaching our intermediate/advanced no gi class on Monday April 15th! Let’s pack the mats like we did for Professor Alexander Huddleston! This is a great experience for those interested in no gi Jiu Jitsu. Professor Eliot is a UFC champion, as well as one of the main owners of Easton Training Center! He has a very big role at Easton and we are very excited to have him at Arvada! Come and learn from the legend himself!

In House Tournament

Want to compete but don’t know where to start? Sign up for our Easton In House tournament hosted by the Denver academy! This is a very friendly competition between the various Easton gyms. For example, an Arvada student has the opportunity to have a match with a student from a different Easton location. It will be a great time to mingle within the Easton community, and get a chance to meet students from other locations. We look forward to seeing you all there!

PerkVille

We are excited to announce that we will now be using Perkville! This service allows our members to achieve discounts and special deals just by coming to class! Every time you attend class, you will receive points. These points add up over time, and eventually you can exchange them for a free week of training for your friend, free items in the pro shop, and many more amazing discounts!
