Coach Chris Tramell to fight in Denver
Coach Chris will be fighting at the Grizzly Rose in Denver on Sunday June 29th. Tickets are available for $25 at the front desk of the Boulder academy as well as online for $35.

Coach Tyler Toner and Sean Madden to fight on Lion Fight card July 4th
Coach Tyler  and Sean will be fighting at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on Friday July 4th. For those who can’t make it to Vegas to watch, never fear! The fights will be televised!

Worlds Highlights
Last weekend we sent a pack of competitors to the IBJJF World Jiu Jitsu Championship in Long Beach, CA. There were some great matches, and John Combs brought home some hardware, taking third in his purple belt division.

Fight to Win Tournament
On May 24th, the Easton Training Center team won the Fight To Win Colorado State Championship for the fourth year in a row! We had a great turnout, and are especially excited about some of our up-and-coming competitors from Boulder. This tournament was John Schultz Jr.’s first competition, and he took first his gi division. Kathryn Milner also competed for her first time, and she took gold in both gi and no-gi for her division.
Congrats to all the competitors who put it on the line! It takes courage, and it’s amazing to see the amazing people we have in our lives because of this sport.

Girls in Gis On May 18th Girls in Gis took over ETC Denver. There were giveaways, top-caliber instruction, and lots of fun for women of all ages. In a sport that’s largely dominated by men, it is important to encourage the goals and recognize the accomplishments of the women and girls who break the mold. Fifty-two ladies from different local academies attended, and Shama Ko, the director of GIG even came in from Texas for the event! Heidi Moore, a 5th degree Olympian Judoka from Denver Judo, showed everyone some killer takedowns, and Professor Leanna Dittrich, Coach Rossie Snow, and Coach Milly Malloy taught BJJ techniques. Coach Rossie and Coach Milly were recognized for their ongoing contributions to the GIG community and programs.

Patricio Rodriguez
Purple Belt, Boulder
Coach Patricio Rodriguez has been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for six years, and regularly teaches Intermediate and Fundamentals classes at ETC Boulder. Coach Patricio strives for directness in his instruction–he is quick to tell students when and how they can improve. His teaching style also emphasizes being as technical as possible, giving his students a step-by-step breakdown of each move, enabling them to succeed with technique rather than force. His Jiu Jitsu game is focused around the half guard, a position where many people get pinned and passed. Coach Patricio’s half guard is aggressive, making him especially adept at executing sweeps.
