Move of the Week for 4/30 – Basic Knees and Butterfly Guard

Move of the Week for 4/30 – This week, we have some excellent and in-depth videos. Professor Easton thoroughly explains side control and taking the mount, as well as several options you have for sweeps while playing a butterfly guard. Professor Easton also explains using your knees in stand up and gives some great drills for it.

Fundamentals:

Basic Knees; Walking, Skip, and Basic Plum

Getting your opponent in the clench is an opportune time to throw some knees. Professor Easton demonstrates some great drills for getting used to throwing a knee quickly and efficiently. Notice how Professor Easton switches his hips for the barn knees, to give them a bigger impact.

100k Top 100k Maintaining+Both ways to mount

This video is a perfect introduction to maintaining side control and taking the mount. Professor Easton shows us each and every detail for keeping your opponent immobilized, then describes in detail how to take the mount. It’s important to position your knees and elbows tightly in the right areas to keep them from having any options to counter-attack. Everything Professor Easton is demonstrating in this video is critical for future jiu jitsu growth.

Intermediate:

Butterfly Guard

This is a pretty thorough explanation of sweeps using the butterfly guard. Professor Easton demonstrates a sweep for several different situations, and shows the variations dependent on your opponents reactions.

Every week, we post our jiu jitsu technique videos that demonstrate the maneuver and skills you would learn while studying jiu jitsu at Easton BJJ. If you would like to learn jiu jitsu in Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Denver or any of our other locations, contact us today.
