We know starting anything new can be intimidating.
Here’s some advice to help you feel comfortable on your first visit!
What should I wear?
Kickboxing: T-shirt or tank top and shorts or pants that allow a full range of motion. Bare feet.
Jiu Jitsu: We will provide you with a gi to wear in your first class. Some people opt to wear a shirt and/or athletic leggings under the gi, but these are not required. Bare feet.
CrossFit and Fitness: T-shirt or tank top and shorts or pants that allow a full range of motion. Athletic shoes.
What should I bring?
You’ll probably get thirsty during your workout, so please bring your water bottle! You’ll also need to bring a photo ID with you to your first class.
What should my child wear?
Jiu Jitsu: We’ll set your child up with a gi to wear in class. Some kids prefer to wear a shirt under the gi top, so it’s a good idea to have one on hand.
Muay Thai: Your child should wear shorts and a t-shirt for class. We will provide them with gloves to borrow for their first visit.
What else should we bring?
In an effort to be environmentally friendly, please bring your child a water bottle for class. They can get very thirsty during all of our awesome activities!
What should we expect from class?
Our friendly, energetic kids’ instructors will get your child acquainted with the class structure, which includes two sections of technique, interspersed with several fun, active games. We make sure to have several instructors in each class, so all the kids are supervised and receive enough individual attention.
Can anyone do this?
Yes! We see beginners every day, and will schedule you for a class that is appropriate for your level of experience. Our adult classes have students of all levels of fitness and all ages–from teenagers to grandparents.
Can I bring a friend?
Absolutely! Starting something new is always easier with a friend, and we love new faces! Just give us a heads up when you confirm your appointment.
What if I don’t have gear?
Don’t worry! We have everything you’ll need, and you can borrow it at no cost for your first class.
If you’ve already used your free gear day, we also rent the following items:
- Gi – $5.00
- Gloves and Hand Wraps – $5.00
- Towel – $1.50
What should I expect?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: Before your first Fundamentals class, you’ll have an orientation with one of our instructors. They’ll familiarize you with some of the most important Jiu Jitsu movements. Then you’ll hop into class, and learn the technique of the week, drilling with a partner.
Kickboxing: Get ready for a fun, fast-paced workout. You’ll be punching and kicking a heavy bag, learning basic combinations interspersed with calisthenic movements.
CrossFit: You’ll start out in our On Ramp program, learning the fundamental movements of CrossFit. The first half of your class will be instruction-focused, and the second half will be the main workout.
Kids: Your child will enjoy a game-filled class with other kids who are similar in age and experience.
