Performance Nutrition Week 1: Eating for Health and Performance

Check out the site for weekly tips on health and nutrition!

There is a reason you see all those religious slogans, symbols and prayer stickers on buses around the world. Once they cram their doors shut and start moving, your life is in the hands of a supreme being (if you are lucky).  Nutrition tips are just like those stickers you see on the buses in third world countries — it’s never too late to change your mind when you read them.

We know that healthy eating habits are vital at every stage of our jiu jitsu practice and in life. It’s never too late to change eating routines. This weekly column will help you with the first step and we will gather quality information regarding healthy eating practices and bring it to you. You will have to do your part and get started.

We will:
1) Help you gain the knowledge to make wise decisions about healthy eating habits that suit your lifestyle.
2) Recommend food that will energize your body and your mind.
3) Provide guidelines for proper nutrition to help with your jiu jitsu training.
4) Help you with information on calorie consumption for weight loss/gain.

Follow these weekly tips if you want to look and feel better, and have energy, strength, and endurance for:
1) Work/School
2) Jiu jitsu training and competition
3) Play
4) Resisting disease
5) Remaining healthy

You must stay active and eat right. Your jiu jitsu training is leading the way to high performance living, and healthy eating habits will help you sustain your jiu jitsu lifestyle by making you feel and look as good as Helio.
